Best coffee in Canberra!

Recent research tells me coffee is actually good for you – which is GREAT news because caffeine (in addition to being my favourite thing in the world) is essential to my writing process. So where is the best coffee in Canberra?
Here are my fav spots in Canberra to hit up when I need that perfect espresso to get another chapter out…
ONA Coffee House – This goes top of my list because it’s a must for the true coffee aficionado. The founder of ONA coffee won the 2015 world barista championships and in 2016, ONA barista Hugh Kelly won the Australian barista championship. If you want to buy some beans to take home with you, The Hitman makes a great coffee on your home machine. I also enjoy Rasberry Candy for a treat. It’s not only their coffee that’s delicious. ONA cafes The Cupping Room and ONA on the Lawn are also great for a delicious brekkie. They’re super busy spots though, so get in early if you can.
Mocan and Green Grout – I love it here! Great cozy vibe – tick! Perfectly brewed coffee no matter whether you like it with or without milk – tick! Watch the chefs make your food fresh in front of you – tick! This place has it all. This is my favourite place to set up with my laptop and get some writing in, it’s just so delightfully warm and cozy. Take some of their beans home with you if you get the opportunity, they come out wonderfully on my home espresso machine.
Lonsdale Street Roasters – Lonsdale is another location with a great vibe and baristas who know their craft! Like Mocan and ONA, they r oast their own beans. My fav beans to buy are the 007, but Assassin is pretty sweet too if you like a strong coffee. These guys have a few places around Canberra, but I find the best coffee at the smaller Lonsdale 7 in Braddon (end closest to Civic).  For food hit their larger cafe up towards the Girrahween St end of Lonsdale. They have a relatively small but delicious menu. You’ll also find them in Civic, at the base of the cinema escalators, or over at the Kingston Foreshore.
Some Cafe –  Driving to or from Canberra? Feel like a scenic, but not too long, drive into the country? Then strongly consider checking out Some Cafe in Collector. The coffee here is not just better than your other alternatives while driving along the Federal Highway, it’s as good as anything else you’ll find in Canberra. They have some delightful and tasty pastries on display too if you’re in the mood for a snack, plus they do a great breakfast.
If you’ve got your own favourite spots – comment below so I can go and try them out!
