Paperchain bookstore is an institution without the pretence of its Manuka location. All who walk through its doors are welcomed into the cozy atmosphere, united by a respect for books and an excited curiosity for the adventures they hold. Children sit on the bench seat perusing the latest releases (all at child accessible eye height almost like they are inviting further delight), store regulars chat to each other at the table in the back, and newcomers to Canberra are let in on the local knowledge of which cafes have the best coffee.
Paperchain is backed by an incredible team who have a drive to connect customers with the right book- questions about the latest political biography or Andy and Terry’s ever growing treehouse engender the same willingness to share and engage.
Complimenting the warm and generous service of the Paperchain team, the store also actively supports literacy in the ACT, sponsoring the The Year 10 Excellence Awards for Outstanding Achievement in the High School Years and the Indigenous Literacy Foundation in the same understated manner where action is taken without the need to grandstand. Paperchain is also a great supporter of local authors – Lisa is proud to have her first series The Mage Chronicles on their shelves as a part of the broad selection designed to have a book for all tastes!
The Paperchain team have built a community of readers excited about the discovery, learning and adventure to be had in books, and in doing so have created a sense of inclusion and warmth in the broader community. Paperchain is truly a small but mighty independent bookstore. You can find all their deets online HERE
