I picked up this book to take a bit of a break from some of the darker/more dense fantasy I’ve been reading recently, and it was absolutely what I was looking for. While there is definitely some darker subject matter in this one, the YA tone and contemporary setting was a breath of fresh air.
Hannah is a great teen character, and the supporting cast are equally fun. The world-building with the different types of witches and their magic was detailed without being too much, and really helped bring the characters to life. There’s nothing particularly unexpected or shocking that unfolds in the plot, but the last part of the book gets a lot more intense! A number of things happen that I’m looking forward to seeing play out in the next book. ⭐⭐⭐ from me
